Had you asked me how I thought our birthing time was going to go while I was pregnant, I would have told you that Aurora would be born after a beautiful hypno-birth with zero (maybe minimal, if necessary) interventions. I've always had the confidence that my body would deliver our babies exactly according to my plan.
I should have paused to realize that it was about God's plan and not mine. His plan for our daughter's birth has rippled beyond the walls of the hospital. I am able to confidently share our story and talk with other Momma's about being prepared for a potential c-section because, sometimes, it happens.
First things first, this is where I change my verbiage. Rather than c-section or cesarean, I call my birthing experience a "belly birth." I still gave birth to my daughter and owning the phrase belly birth validates that for me. So, when you see "belly birth" know that I am referring to a surgical birth commonly called c-sections.
The next few posts are going to be a series of posts that highlight what I have learned after having a belly birth and the things that I am going to do for future pregnancies. Preparedness before birthing begins (planned belly birth or planned vaginal birth), pre-op, in the operating room, post-op, visitors, getting out of bed, essential oils and homeopathic remedies, time at home, and what I still experience even 7 months post belly birth!
Stay tuned for more of my story along with tips and tricks I've learned along the way.
