Last Sunday in church our pastor talked about New Year Resolutions. He asked who had made them in the past, who had made them this year, and talked about why they exist.
Summary version - they stem from ancient times when our calendar was first divided into the months as we now know them to be. The god that January is named after had two faces - one pointing forward and one pointing backwards. Subsequently, as an ode to him, the tradition began of reflecting back on the previous year and setting a new intention and goal for the the coming year. Pastor Mike went on to talk about how yes, christian's can and should make New Year Resolutions (in addition to a much grander message), but you can watch more of that by following this link to the full video.
But, why am I talking about resolutions when we are nearly 2 weeks into 2019?
This year, I didn't make a New Year Resolution in the traditional sense. I chose a word that would help be my focus in 2019...that word is Embrace.
I'm going to embrace the path that God has placed me on and the people I'm doing life with. More importantly, I'm going to embrace, rather than fear, the things I feel him calling me to do and say.
When I started this blog it was because I felt a passion to connect with others and share my love for oils and wellness. Since that time I have found myself with a burning passion to share boldly about a wide spectrum of topics that didn't fit the original outline I planned.
At the end of 2018, I met with a wonderful woman named Mary Clare. She and I sat down and framed out a way for me to share and connect all the things I am feeling called to share with love and purpose. So, this blog is transforming. When I finished blurting out all the things and topics to Mary Clare that I wanted to focus on we noticed one primary theme.
Helping moms navigate motherhood with a holistic perspective.
That's where I'm going and that's what I'm doing with this blog in 2019. I'm embracing what is unknown and greeting it with a sigh of relief for finding the niche my heart has been looking for!
Get connected and keep an eye out for where Essence of Life is going in 2019 as I daily embrace this path that God has me on!
