As I reflect back on today, two words are ringing in my heart...Thank you.
This is my second Mother's Day since Aurora's birth, my third if you include 2016 when I was pregnant with her (which I totally think counts!) I don't think I fully express my appreciation for being a mother, especially after a night of being awake with her. It's easy to see the places that are tough in motherhood, but I pray that I never forget to appreciate the blessing I have by being a mother and remember that many hearts long for motherhood.
Lord, thank you for the calling of motherhood.
Thank you for the noise of metal pots and wooden spoons during play.
Thank you for the half-grown-in teeth filled smiles that brighten my day.
Thank you for the sleepy snuggles.
Thank you for the reminders that I need to slow down and just read books with her.
Thank you for the gift of being able to comfort her with a kiss, a hug, or nursing.
Thank you for the incredible legacy of women who have passed on knowledge.
Thank you for patience to listen and give her the respect she deserves.
Thank you for sisters walking beside me on this journey.
Thank you for my daughter.
Thank you for my partner, my husband, my love.
Thank you, Lord, for this blessing of a calling.
May my heart always be filled with gratitude.
